OCU Hires Bassoff to lead Men's Soccer


The Mighty Oaks welcome Aron Bassoff as new Men's Soccer Coach. Bassoff comes to OCU after a four year stint as head Women's Coach at the University of the Cumberlands.

While at the University of the Cumberlands he led the team to first back to back winning seasons in 6 years and established the coaching record for most wins in women’s soccer program history with 43
 
Coach Bassoff brings an Intercollegiate Career record of 103-85--8. He has coached in three Region Championships (NAIA and NCCAA) and has coached four nationally ranked teams.
 
Bassoff joined the the University of the Cumberlands staff after having coached at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Prior to that, he served as the assistant men's soccer coach then head men's soccer coach at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.
 
Bassoff graduated from Messiah College with a BS in Sport and Exercise Science and earned a Masters in Sports Management from Nova Southeastern University in May 2006.


He is married to Tammy Bassoff and they have two children, Kayla and Drew.

Women's Basketball Coach Jessica Mehringer Announces Camp of Champions

OCU Women's Basketball Coach Jessica Mehringer is holding a camp this summer for incoming 6th grade thru Senior girls. The camp will be held June 28th thru July 2nd.

Coach Mehringer says, "The Basketball “Camp of Champions” is a small camp dedicated to providing individual instruction and one-on-one help. Camp numbers are limited to 75 campers during the individual camp week so that we can maintain an individual approach."

2009 NCCAA Tournament Teams Set!

The teams and seeding for the 2009 NCCAA Men's National Tournament have been announced. The Tournament games will kick off at 1:00 p.m. on March 19th in the Johnson Center on the campus of Oakland City University. Click here to go to the Tournament Site.

NCCAA National Tournament Banquet and Championship Tickets Onsale

The NCCAA Men's Basketball National Tournament is coming back to OCU on March 19-21, with a kick-off banquet set for March 18th.

Tickets to the banquet, held on the OCU campus in the Bower-Suhrheinrich Student Life Center, are $16.00. Princeton Community High School Head Boy's Basketball Coach Tom Weeks will be the keynote speaker. Entertainment will be provided by OCU's very own Earthlight. A three-course meal will be served. The banquest is on Wednesday, March 18th, and starts at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets to the National tournament are $10.00 a day for four games, with season ticket for the three days at $25.00.

You may purchase tickets for both the banquet and tournament by contacting the Athletic Department Office at 812-749-1264 to purchase.

Lady Oaks at Grace College for NCCAA National Tournament

OCU headed up to Winona Lake, Indiana, to participate in the NCCAA National Tournament starting on Thursday. The Lady Oaks are the #7 seed and will face Mt. Vernon Nazarene in the opening contest at 1 pm. Follow this link to keep tabs on the results. Go Lady Oaks!

OCU Wins NCCAA Mid East Championship

The Lady Oaks pulled it together against a scrappy Bluefield College team in the Johnson Center on Thursday by a score of 86-64. With the victory OCU advances to the NCCAA National Tournament next week at Grace College.

Led by Karissa Walters' 27 points and five assists, OCU shot 50% from the field on the evening. Jesse Oxley popped for 20 counters, Chelsea Miller poured in 17 counters and Kristi McVey scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Lady Oaks head to Grace College for the National Tournament on March 12-14.

Lady Oaks Win Big on Senior Day

On an emotional day, when the OCU faithful paid respects to Karissa Walter, Chelsea Miller and Jana Davis on Senior Day, the Lady Oaks pulled out an easy win over visiting Robert Morris-Springfield 86-59.

Miller led the offensive charge with 26 points and five rebounds. Freshman Kayla Sutton popped for 15 counters, Walter added a dozen markers, eight rebounds and nine assists, and Davis scored nine points.

The Lady Oaks were never at risk in the game, jumping out to a 16-0 lead and never looking back.

OCU Falls Short in Thriller

The Mighty Oaks lost an tough one to Quincy in the Johnson Center Tuesday evening by a score of 83-79. In a very evenly matched game, it came down to the last few possessions for Quincy to secure the victory.

Nathan Schumacher had a stellar performance with 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Brandon Hopf was right on his heels knocking down 20 counters and grabbing eight missed shots. Craig Parks hits some big shots down the stretch and finished with 14 counters and Evan Hutchinson popped for a dozen points and handed out seven assists.

Poor foul shooting was the nemesis for OCU, who could only hit on 10 of 18 attempts for 58.8%.

Lady Oaks Take Down UMSL 74-66

OCU overcame a 32-28 half-time deficit to defeat Missouri-St Louis in the Johnson Center Tuesday evening.

Paced by Karissa Walter's 23 points, the Lady Oaks played nip and tuck with the Tritons for much of the game, despite being out-rebounded 44-29.

Chelsea Miller popped for 18 markers, Kristi McVey added 13 and Kayla Sutton put in 10 points.

OCU Hall of Fame Induction and Homecoming This Saturday.

The rescheduled Homecoming festivities will take place in the Johnson Center prior to Saturday's Men's and Women's Basketball games with Miami-Middletown.

OCU Snaps Skid with Balanced Attack

The Mighty Oaks placed four starters in double figures to hold on for an 85-73 victory over Temple Baptist on Saturday in the Johnson Center. Led by the trio of Cody Dunn, Nathan Schumacher and Brandon Hopf with 18 counters apiece and Evan Hutchinson with 16 markers, OCU kept the visiting Rams at arm's length most of the contest.

Schumacher had another great day on the boards, pulling down a dozen missed shots to lead all players, plus he handed out eight assists for a well rounded effort. Evan Hutchinson doled out seven assists on the day in 40 minutes of playing time.

Mighty Oaks Come Up Short to UAH

Alabama-Huntsville, shook off a nice game ending run by OCU to hold on for a 66-58 victory in the Johnson Center Tuesday evening. The Mighty Oaks pulled within a few points late in the game, but their dismal 47% performance from the charity stripe sealed their fate.

Nate Schumacher put in 40 minutes of playing time with 14 points and 8 rebounds to show for the effort. Brandon Hopf 13 markers and Evans Hutchinson put in 10 counters on the evening.

Lady Oaks Lose Again at Home

On a night where Karissa Walter became the 3rd leading scorer in OCU Women's Basketball history, the Lady Oaks just couldn't hold onto the lead. Alabama-Huntsville held OCU to 8-26 shooting in the second half to overtake the home team and win by a score of 63-61. The loss makes it four in a row for the Lady Oaks.

Sam Stahl led the Lady Oaks with 21 points on seven of 12 from the field. Walter added a dozen points and grabbed seven boards, while freshman Kayla Sutton continued her strong play of late with 11 counters and eight rebounds.

OCU is off until January 29th,when they travel to Springfield, Illinois, to take on Robert Morris-Springfield. (boxscore)

OCU Women lose to Urbana 60-55 at Home

Playing without starters Chelsea Miller (broken hand), Jesse Oxley (broken foot) and Ali Pia (ankle sprain), the Lady Oaks struggled all over the court to lose to Urbana Saturday afternoon.

Shooting a paltry 32.7% from the field, which included 11% from behind the arc and being outrebounded 54-26 kept OCU from mounting a serious charge on the visiting Blue Knights.

Freshman Kayla Sutton was a bright spot, knocking down 17 points on 8 of 10 from the field, but that was about it for the home team.

Hobbling OCU Loses to Urbana at Home

The Mighty Oaks, playing without starting guard Evan Hutchinson, lost to a talented squad from Urbana 72-64 in the Johnson Center on Saturday. Hutchinson, who is 6th in the NCAA in assists per game is nursing a groin injury, to add to the season long injury woes OCU has faced all season.

Using a six man deep lineup, Mike Sandifar saw his Mighty Oaks struggle from the field and the charity stripe all afternoon. Brandon Hopf led OCU with 23 points on a cool eight for 18 from the field. Hopf also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. Nate Schumacher added 17 points and ripped down 16 rebounds in the loss.

Brescia Sneaks by Lady Oaks

OCU lost a tough one in the Johnson Center on Tuesday evening to Brescia by a score of 66-64. The Lady Oaks were outrebounded 35-26 and gave up 11 three pointers to the Lady Bearcats on the evening.

OCU, playing without starters Jesse Oxley and Chelsea Miller due to injuries, headed to the lockers at the break with a six point cushion. Brescia proved to be too much in the second half and the Lady Oaks couldn't seal the deal after falling behind late in the game.

Mighty Oaks Cruise Over Lincoln Christian

Brandon Hopf poured in 30 points and Nathan Schumacher netted 17 and grabbed 17 rebounds as OCU pulled away from Lincoln Christian 97-63 in the Johnson Center on Saturday.

Chris Sandifar came off the bench to pop for 17 points on five of six from behind the arc and Evan Hutchinson scored 11 points and handed out six assists in the win. The OCU defense held Lincoln Christian to 32% shooting from the field, which included a lowly 15% from behind the arc.

Lady Oaks Come Up Short at IUS

Despite a 27 point performance from senior Karissa Walter, OCU took a loss in overtime to IU-Southeast in New Albany on Thursday.

In a game that was nip and tuck all the way, IUS forced OCU into 21 turnovers on the night and ultimately outscored the Lady Oaks in overtime 14-9.

Chelsea Miller added 14 points for OCU, while Kristi McVey and Kayla Sutton rounded the double figures performances with 10 coutners apiece.

The Lady Oaks are back in action on January 13th, as they host Brescia in the Johnson Center. Tip off is at 7pm (boxscore)

Lady Oaks Avenge Earlier Loss to Lindsey Wilson

OCU got one back, as the Lady Oaks held on to defeat Lindsey Wilson 64-56 in the Johnson Center Tuesday evening. OCU lost to the Blue Raiders on the road by a score of 78-63 back on December 9th.

Despite being outrebounded 42-26, the Lady Oaks used some gritty defense to force Lindsey Wilson into 18 turnovers on the night.

Karissa Walter, once again, led the offensive attack with 19 points. She was joined in double figures by Kristi McVey and Chelsea Miller with 14 markers apiece.

Mighty Oaks Wins in Overtime

OCU slipped by a very tough Central Christian squad in overtime in the Johnson Center Tuesday evening by a score of 94-88. The Mighty Oaks overcame a combined 69 points by the Saints' Terry Jones (35 points) and De'Ronte' Polite (34 markers).

Brandon Hopf led the charge for OCU with 29 points and nine rebounds. Nathan Schumacher was right behind Hopf with 21 counters and 9 boards. Evan Hutchinson's 19 points and Zach Adams' 17 markers rounded out the Mighty Oaks in double figures.

OCU Women Win 3 OT Thriller in Alabama

It took three overtimes and a fire-drill to get the win, but the Lady Oaks will take it! OCU defeated the host Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 89-83 on Saturday.

With OCU nursing a three point advantage there was an 11-minute delay in the second overtime with 1:35 remaining due to the gym having to be cleared when the fire alarms went off. Despite that, the women took charge in the final overtime to pull out he win.

OCU place four players in double figures and a trio with 11 rebounds each. Karissa Walter knocked down 22 counters and had 11 boards, Kristia McVey poured in 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Chelsea Miller popped for 18 markers, Sam Stahl came off the bench to add 15 points,while Kayla Sutton and Rachel Moore each pulled down 11 boards.

Alabama-Huntsville Outlasts OCU

The Mighty Oaks fell behind 51-27 at the break in Huntsville, Alabama and couldn't catch up with Alabama-Huntsville despite 54 point second half effort to lose 89-81 Saturday evening.

OCU put all five starters in double figures in the loss, including a team high 19 points from sophomore Hunter Elliott. Evan Hutchinson added 15 counters and eight assists, Brandon Hopf tossed in 15 counters, Zach Adams put in 14 markers and Nathan Schumacher popped for 11 points and nabbed a dozen rebounds.

UAH out rebounded the Mighty Oaks 39-31 and shot 53.2% from the field for the game. OCU struggled from the charity stripe hitting on only seven of their 14 attempts for an even 50%.

Lady Oaks Lose in St. Louis

UMSL turned 18 OCU turnovers into 24 points as the Tritons held off the Lady Oaks 74-68 in St. Louis on Tuesday.

Junior Kristi Mcvey poured in a game high 26 points and ripped down 13 rebounds for OCU in the loss. Karissa Walter popped 15 counters and Jesse Oxley added 13 markers as the Lady Oaks fell to 6-7 on the season.

Mighty Oaks Fall on Road to UMSL

OCU couldn't hold a nine point lead five minutes into the second half to lose to UMSL in St. Louis on Tuesday evening. Despite a 37-30 rebounding edge, the Mighty Oaks gave up 46 points to the Tritons in the final stanza.

It was OCU's second loss in as many nights away from home. Brandon Hopf scored 16 points, Nathan Schumacher had 15 counters and 13 rebounds, Hunter Elliott added a dozen markers and Evan Hutchinson handed out 12 assists in the loss.

Austin Peay Ends OCU Win Streak

The Mighty Oaks' five game win streak ended in decisive fashion, as Austin Peay ran past OCU easily 97-61 in Clarksville, Tennessee Monday night.

The Govs jumped out to a 50-23 lead at intermission and OCU could never muster a run to challenge. Brandon Hopf led the Mighty Oaks with 17 points and Nathan Schumacher added 15 counters.

OCU stays on the road to face UMSL in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday evening.

Mighty Oaks Win a Close One

The OCU men's basketball team came from behind and later fought off a furious rally to defeat Ohio University - Chillicothe by a score of 87-83 in the Johnson Center on Saturday. A very poor free-throw shooting effort kept the game very close as the Mighty Oaks were way below respectable from the line, hitting only 15 or 31 free shots.

A gritty 27 point, 16 rebound performance from junior Nate Schumacher and some clutch three point shooting from fellow junior Chris Sandifar with 16 counters, made the difference in this contest. Junior Evan Hutchinson was in the holiday spirit with 11 assists, with junior Brandon Hopf and freshman Zach Adams adding 13 tallies apiece. The Mighty Oaks were solid underneath and won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the visitors 43 to 33.

OCU Women Roll Easily

The Lady Oaks held visiting OU-Chillicothe to 23% shooting from the field to win easily 100-41 on Saturday in the Johnson Center. With the score 30-15 with 7:15 to go in the first half, OCU totally shut down the visitors to lead 47-15 at the break.

The Lady Oaks found their shooting touch in the friendly confines, hitting on 60% of their shots from the field on the day to put seven players in double figures. Leading the way was junior Jesse Oxley with 15 counters, while senior Chelsea Miller popped for 13 points and nabbed six rebounds. Senior Karissa Walter and sophomore Sam Stahl each contributed 11 tallies to the cause, while junior Kristi McVey and freshmen Rachel Moore and Kayla Sutton added ten markers each.

OCU is off for the Christmas break and return with a road game in St. Louis where they will face UMSL on December 30th. (boxscore)

Lady Oaks Blown Out on Road

OCU were run over by Bellarmine in Louisville Thursday evening, by a score of 111-58. Bellarmine jumped out to a 30 point lead at the half and the Lady Oaks were out of it from there.

The Knights shot 54.7% from the field, while holding OCU to 39.2% shooting on the evening. The Lady Oaks shot a paltry 15 of 30 from the charity stripe for only 50% in the contest.

Karissa Walter led the way again for OCU with 20 points. Kristi McVey was the only other Lady Oak in double figures with 17 counters.

Mighty Oaks Win Fourth in a Row

OCU ran by a very talented Ohio Christian squad by a score of 112-89 in the Johnson Center Monday evening. Once again, led by Brandon Hopf's outstanding play with 34 points and 10 rebounds, The Mighty Oaks kept the visitors at bay for most of the evening.

Nathan Schumacher popped for 21 counters and eight caroms, while the guard tandem of Evan Hutchinson and Zach Adams poured in 19 and 18 tallys respectfully.

OCU Women Lose to #11 Tusculum

Despite a 29 point performance from senior Karissa Walter and 21 points from Chelsea Miller, The Lady Oaks fell short to a very quick Tusculum College squad by a score of 99-80 on Monday evening.

Tusculum's Ashli Oliver poured in eight for 11 from behind the arc to finish with 26 points to lead the visitors. OCU went 30 for 32 from the charity stripe and stayed close until the very end against a very strong team. The teams went to the half knotted at 33.

Mighty Oaks Cruise Over OSU-Mansfield

Brandon Hopf poured in 24 points and ripped down a dozen rebounds to lead OCU over visiting OSU-Mansfield by a score of 93-46. The Mighty Oaks out-rebounded the visitors by 59 to 39 and held them to 25% shooting from the floor.

Sophomore Cody Dunn scored 14 points off the bench, while he was joined in double digits by Evan Hutchinson and Nathan Schumacher with 13 and 12 counters each.

OCU hosts Ohio Christian on Monday in the Johnson Center. Tip-off is at 8pm.

Lady Oaks Back on Track in 76-33 Win

OCU rebounded from their loss on Tuesday by decimating visiting Ohio State-Mansfield by 43 points. The Lady Oaks jumped out to a quick 22-2 lead and never looked back.

Freshman Kayla Sutton led all scorers with 14 points on seven of 10 shooting from the field. Senior guard Karissa Walter led all players with 12 rebounds.

Senior Chelsea Miller entered the contest needing but one point to join the vaunted "1,000 Point Club." She finished with 10 counters.

OCU will host #11 Tusculum on Monday with tip-off at 6pm in the Johnson Center.

Cold Night in Kentucky for Lady Oaks

Lindsey Wilson College held OCU to 38% shooting from the field including a dismal 18.8% from three-point range to pull out a convincing 78-63 win.

Despite the poor shooting, Karissa Walter and Kristi McVey each managed 17 points. Chelsea Miller added 16 counters in her first game back from an injury. Walter continued her great play on the boards with 12 caroms grabbed in the loss.

Cedarville Wins NCCAA Volleyball National Championships, Lady Oaks finish 1-3

OCU traveled to Lakewood, Colorado last week to participate in the NCCAA National Volleyball Championships. The Lady Oaks finished the tournament at 1-3. On December 4th, OCU lost to Dallas Baptist 3-0 and bounced back to defeat Southern Wesleyan University 3-1, in the afternoon session.

On December 5th, OCU opened the day with a loss to Bethel College by a score of 3-1. Later in the morning, the Lady Oaks lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene 3-0.

OCU Routs Concordia 86-36

The Mighty Oaks made it two in a row with a 50 point drubbing of the visiting Preachers. Brandon Hopf continued his roll with 27 points and 17 rebounds.

Four other Oaks were in double figures, Evan Hutchinson had 14, Craig Parks 12, Hunter Elliott 11 and Nathan Schumacher 10 points. Chris Sandifar handed out eight assists and had eight steals. The OCU defense held Concordia to 21.4% shooting from the field.

Lady Oaks Cruise Past Illinois Springfield 82-62

Behind a balanced scoring attack, the Lady Oaks took charge early to defeat Illinois Springfield on Saturday. Jesse Oxley and Karissa Walter each poured in 18 points, Kristi McVey added 16 and Sam Stahl put in 14 counters on the afternoon.

Walter scored a double/double by pulling down 14 rebounds, while Kristi McVey grabbed nine boards and handed out five assists.

OCU Volleyball are off to NCCAA National Tournament

The Lady Oaks volleyball team are headed to Lakewood, Colorado to compete in the NCCAA National Volleyball Championship. The women open the tournament on December 4th with a match against Dallas Baptist. Follow all of the results at this link.

Lady Oaks Win on Road

OCU's women's basketball team evened their record at 3-3 on the season with a road victory over St Joseph's by a score of 73-68. The Lady Oaks shot 50% from the field to aid in the victory.

Senior Karissa Walter and junior Kristi McVey led the scoring with 16 points apiece. Freshman Rachel Moore added 15 counters and junior Jesse Oxley nabbed nine rebounds.

Mighty Oaks Fall Hard in Home Opener

It was a game, for about five minutes, and then the visiting Wilmington Quakers dictated the action the rest of the way to defeat OCU 110-86. The visitors forced the home team into 28 turnovers by forcing a quick pace and manhandling the Mighty Oak backcourt.

Wilmington were led by the dominant post play of Brandon Rogers, who popped for 29 points and snagged nine rebounds. Long range bomber RJ Brown added 25 counters and nabbed seven steals.

OCU were, once again, led by junior Brandon Hopf with 29 counters and nine caroms. Fellow juniors Nathan Schumacher and Craig Parks added 25 and 17 points apiece. Schumacher whipped down nine rebounds.

The Mighty Oaks will try to get into the win column on Tuesday when they travel to St. Louis to face Logan. (boxscore)

Volleyball Loses in Four to Campbellsville

The Lady Oaks lost a tough one in the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament in Campbellsville, Kentucky on Thursday. The scoring went 15-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-25 to end an otherwise great season for first year coach Karen Adams' squad who ended the season with a record of 18-8.

OCU Lady Oaks Lose at Home to Indianapolis

Depsite a shooting clinic from senior Chelsea Miller, The Lady Oaks fell to an undefeated Indianapolis team 88-72, Wednesday, in the Johnson Center.

Miller hit on seven of eight from the field which included six from behind the arc, to finish with 21 points on the evening. Freshman Kayla Sutton popped for 17 counters and picked up five boards, while senior Karissa Walter hit for 15 points and pulled down another 5 caroms.

The visiting Greyhounds, who improved to 6-0 on the season, out rebounded OCU by a margin of 43 to 25.

UE Outpaces Mighty Oaks in Second Half

The Mighty Oaks put up a valiant effort Tuesday night at Roberts Stadium, but went cold in the second half to lose 75-51 against the Purple Aces. After staying tight to trail by eight at the half, OCU shot only 26.9% from the field in the second stanza and could never threaten the hosts.

Junior Brandon Hopf led the Mighty Oaks with 14 points and 10 boards. Fellow junior Nathan Schumacher joined Hopf in double figures with 10 counters and picked up 6 rebounds.

Lady Oaks Travel to Campbellsville November 20 for NCCAA Regional

The OCU volleyball team will head to Campbellsville, Kentucky to face Campbellsville University (31-9) in an NCCAA Regional matchup, on Thursday, November 20th. The Lady Oaks are 18-7 in Karen Adams' first season at the helm.

Lady Oaks Run Over Lincoln

OCU's women's basketball team pulled themselves together to pick-up an impressive 81-55 win over Lincoln in Rolla, Missouri on Sunday. Led by, All-Tournament Team selection, senior Karissa Walter's 20 points and 13 rebounds, the Lady Oaks built an 18 point lead at the half and never looked back.

Senior Chelsea Miller knocked down 16 points, junior Kristi McVey tallied 15 counters and fellow junior Jesse Oxley tossed in thirteen markers to round out a balanced OCU offensive attack.

The Lady Oaks host the University of Indianapolis on Wednesday in the Johnson Center. Tip-off is at 6pm. (box score)

Men and Women's Basketball Open Regular Seasons with Losses

Both OCU basketball teams opened their respective seasons on the road Saturday. The men traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to face NCAA Division I Lipscomb and were soundly defeated 121-54. (box score)

The Lady Oaks were in Rolla, Missouri to particiapate in the Missouri S&T tournament. They faced Hillsdale College and were defeated 104-62. (box score)

The Lady Oaks will meet Lincoln College on Sunday in Rolla, while the men travel to Evansville to face the Purple Aces on Tuesday at Roberts Stadium.


Lady Oaks Cruise 3-0 Over Brescia on Dig Pink Night

Coach Karen Adams' OCU volleyball team upped their record to 18-4 with a workman like win over Brescia in the Johnson Center Monday night. Led by Cortney Paro's 21 assists and Emily Prewitt's nine kills, the Lady Oaks won finished off the visitors 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15.

On the defensive end, junior Emily Andrews picked up eight digs, while senior Tiffany Potter scored on five aces.

The evening showcased Breast Cancer awareness, with the home team wearing flourishes of pink in a show of supoort. Dig Pink events are being held on High School and College campuses nationwide to help raise awareness about this devastating disease. Currently over 700 teams are supporting this important cause.

Men's Basketball Announces Recruiting Class

Three transfers and a pair of freshmen will join the Oakland City University Men’s Basketball Program in the fall, as OCU Coach Mike Sandifar has announced the signing of five newcomers for the 2008-09 hardwood season. Click here for more info.

OCU Athletic/Pepsi Cola Invitational Golf Scramble set for September 6th

The 2008 OCU Athletic/Pepsi Cola Invitational Golf Scramble has been set for September 6th at 1:00 pm at the Prides Creek Golf Course in Petersburg, Indiana.

This event will be limited to 18 teams. The entry fee is $400 per team or $100 per person, which includes: 18 holes of Golf and Cart, a sleeve of golf balls, a six pack of Pepsi product, Aquafina Bottled Water on course (compliments of Pepsi), OCU Student/Athletes as hosts at each tee box and a Rib-Eye Steak Dinner, with baked potato, baked beans and drink following the scramble.

OCU GOES 1-2 at NCCAA Nationals

The Mighty Oaks trip to the NCCAA National Tournament lasted 3 games after an opening 9-7 victory over Cedarville. OCU ran into top seeded Malone for a tough 7-5 loss that threw them into the losers end of the double elimination tournament. The Oak's hopes were dashed by 6-5 by sixth seeded Bethel. Mt Vernon Nazarene went on to win the title.

OCU entered the championships seeded 8th and ended the season with an 11-29 record.

Mighty Oaks Advance to NCCAA Nationals!

OCU's Seniors were honored before the first game of the regionals.

The Mighty Oaks won the NCCAA Mid-East Regionals last weekend. With the win, OCU advaces to the National Championships at Geneva College in Struthers, Ohio. The Mighty Oaks beat Mid-Continet 5-3, Blufield 2-1, and 11-0 to advance. Please click here for the National Tournament Website for more info.

This Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. - Lady Oaks vs. Brescia

The Lady Oaks will tip-off against Brescia in the Johnson Center as part of the "Think Pink" global initiative in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. All fans are asked to wear pink and will get in free to the game witha $2 donation to the Breast Cancer Fund.

We will be honoring breast cancer survivors at half-time and Jodi McRoberts, chairman for the Gibson County Relay for Life will also be speaking during the intermission. Come out to the game and help us increase breast cancer awareness and fight this vicious disease.


Patti Buchta Inducted to OCU Hall of Fame

Patti Buchta was elected to OCU's Hall of Fame by the selection committee on November 8th. She was inducted on January 12th between Men's and Women's basketball games against Tiffin University. To read the press release, click here.

Men's Soccer Advances to NCCAA Nationals

  The Mighty Oaks Men's Soccer team is headed to Kissimmee, Florida for the NCCAA National Championship. Coach Serino and his crew will head to Florida for games held November 16-19 at the Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex. The pairings will be announced soon.

Baseball Alumni Game A Hit!

 

Twenty five returning Alumni took part in this year's annual ballgame. The event was highlighted by the much anticipated Home Run Derby. This year Jason Pegg defeated Brian Welp in a tightly contested match-up.

The Alumni won the actual game with 12 unanswered runs after trailing 9-0. Coach Fletcher had a hit and scored the tying run. The contest ended the Mighty Oaks Fall Season. Look for a final spring schedule to be posted here soon.
