School of Religious Studies & Chapman Seminary

Degrees
Certificate | Associate Degrees | Bachelor Degrees | Masters Degree | Doctoral Degree

Class Schedule

Dr. Douglas Low, Dean
The Chapman Seminary offers a certificate, associate, baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degree programs. The diploma in religious studies is a two-year, non-degree program offered in extension centers in geographically diverse areas of the supporting denomination. The three-year certificate program is a non-degree program offered on campus to those who do not wish to pursue a degree program.

The baccalaureate degree is offered with a major available in Religious Studies, with minors available in Pastoral Ministry, Christian Education, Christian Missions or Lay Ministry. The four minors have a professional orientation since some of the recipients do not go to seminary or graduate school. (The Seminary also provides courses in religion and philosophy required of degree students in the General Education component of liberal studies.) Students pursuing the programs of study in religion are prepared to enter seminaries and graduate programs in religion. The professional character of the religious studies program prepares many students to enter the vocation ministry, the field of Christian education, the mission field, or denominational service.

The mission of the Chapman Seminary is:
Conscious of the call of God, honoring our ties to General Baptists, and mindful of the Church universal, the Chapman School of Religious Studies seeks to develop through the professional education of men and women, the spiritual, moral, and intellectual maturity necessary for effective leadership in the church.

The objectives of the Chapman Seminary are to:
Lead students to an appreciation of their Christian calling.
Lead students to an appreciation of the impact of the Bible and Christianity on western civilization.
Develop expertise and competence in the theory and practice of ministry.
Give special emphasis to preparing people for Christian service in society in general.
Stress the preparation of students for particular service with the sponsoring denomination.
