Online Learning Information

Oakland City University now offers credit-bearing internet courses to apply towards your degree. Please note that we do not offer full-degree programs online. We may offer all of the courses required for a certain degree online, but campus visits consisting of workshops and other activities will be required before a degree is granted.

Online courses run on traditional semester guidelines. You may register for online classes at the same time you would traditional courses, which would be fall, spring and summer.

On-line classes are designed for the non-traditional working adult who
is unable to take classes during the times courses are offered on campus or at its various Oakland City University sites. Classes are not available to traditional students. If the traditional student desires to take a class in this format, it must be approved in writing by his/her advisor, the Dean of the School in which the student is enrolled, the Dean of the School in which the course is offered, and approval from the Provost.

Faculty/Student interaction may consist of email, Yahoo Messenger, specific login times, and telephone conversations.

Technical requirements for Online Learning are as follows: access to a computer, a v5.0+ web-browser, a connection to the internet, familiarity with a text editor (ex. Microsoft Word), some instructors may require Yahoo Messenger (a free service available at www.yahoo.com).

Online Courses are now included under the Veterans Montgomery G. I. Bill and Tuition Assistance (eArmy.com).

**Online Courses follow traditional Fall and Spring semester timeframes. The online Summer Term begins at the beginning of the traditional May Term and ends at the end of the traditional Summer Term.
